Early this week, NSW police responded to a 000 emergency call from a unit block in Parramatta. When they arrived, what they saw was gruesome and disturbing.
58-year-old Barry Corbett was found dead in his own bed. His body showed evidence of multiple stab wounds. And his penis?
Well, it wasn’t there.
The victim’s penis had been chopped off and for a while, nowhere to be found. After a search of the crime scene, police did eventually locate the severed body part in an underwear drawer. How appropriate.
Gabor Ziha appeared in Sydney’s Central Local Court today charged with Corbett’s murder and also the malicious wounding of his estranged wife Marija Ziha. The pair were in bed together when Mr Ziha allegedly entered the unit carrying a torch and knife.
Police said that prior to Ziha being arrested, detectives had called him to inform him of the arrest. Ziha replied, “yes I know, you can come and pick me up now.” He was subsequently taken into custody without incident and questioned by homicide detectives.
Ziha has been refused bail and will face court again on August 9.
