Miss Australia Finalist Caught Stealing

Just when you thought you'd heard enough about the silicone and the collagen and were breathing a sigh of relief that all the pageant news was over for the year, out comes a new scandal so juicy, I had to write about it.


And this time, it’s about one of our own. Edwina Joyce Nattrass, a finalist in the recent Miss Australia pageant, had to face court today on a charge of theft.

I suppose all the fun in this story comes out of trying to guess what a beauty queen might steal...

Makeup?
Hairspray?
Those undies with the ‘no-visible-pantyline’ guarantee?
Or how about some double-sided Hollywood tape?

No, no. This 23-year-old model from Perth, breaking all stereotypes, stole a good old Aussie pie. In fact, the court was informed that Miss Nattrass stole 3 from the local supermarket, eating 1 and stashing 2 in her bag for later.

Who ever said that models don’t eat??

Miss Nattrass has been fined $300 and has been ordered to pay for the pies.

Who at all the pies? Probably not. I can't begin to even guess at the psychology behind this one. Some wierd kind of bolemic/denial induced theft? If she did not pay for them she did not eat them? Or maybe she has watched Breakfast at Tiffanys too many times. I bet that movie has been responsible for millions of dollars worth of five finger discounts over the years

believe it or not, I have never watched Breakfast at Tiffany's! (Trina, I'll do it this weekend just to see how random jon's comment really is! hehe..)

And as for the pie, I hope it was at least a gourmet one and not one of those ones they used to sell at school with the plastic meat and the random bits of chewy...

Lol... funny. Meat pies was the last thing on my mind when I read your entry. Maybe she was really, really hungry and had no pennies to spare?

Yes, i heard she was daughter of the Lord Mayor. And I think she's also quite well-known on Perth TV though, I'm not from Perth, so I don't know...

Sounds like a Winona-type incident all of a sudden...

The best pies are at the pie shop opposite the Powerhouse mueseum in Sydney, they supply Harry's. trust me, even if you dont like peas with your pies (i thought it sounded weird too) these are pure gold. You wont be dissapointed.
